¿Cuándo faltan piezas dentales, se puede poner ortodoncia?

Uno de los tratamientos más recurrente entre los pacientes que acuden a la clínica dental son los tratamientos en ortodoncia, bien sea mediante la colocación de brackets o mediante nuevos aparatos dentales más estéticos como la ortodoncia invisible Invisalign.
“La ortodoncia es un tratamiento muy frecuente porque sirve para colocar los dientes en la posición deseada. Gracias a los aparatos conseguimos alinear así los dientes”, señalan los especialistas.
Gracias a la ortodoncia se consigue que los dientes se muevan mediante el uso de aparatos dentales como brackets metálicos (los más comunes), fabricados en diversas aleaciones. Además, existe hoy lo que se conoce como ortodoncia invisible Invisalign.
Algunas de las preguntas que los pacientes suelen realizar en la clínica dental es si pueden ponerse una ortodoncia si les falta alguna pieza dental. Pues bien, “dependiendo el espacio dejado por estos dientes perdidos, y si existen o no dientes adyacentes a estos espacios, se pueden proponer tratamientos alternativos, como puentes ,coronas, o el uso de implantes dentales”
Además, hay que tener en cuenta que la ortodoncia es un tratamiento muy válido para cerrar los huecos entre los dientes. De hecho, existen muchos casos donde se sacan algunas muelas primero para luego alinear debidamente los dientes, “y vemos cómo a medida que pasa el tratamiento de ortodoncia se va cerrando el hueco dejado por esa muela”
Por otro lado, cabe señalar que para iniciar un tratamiento de ortodoncia es importante tener una boca lo más sana posible. Un tratamiento de ortodoncia puede fracasar por ejemplo si se padece de una enfermedad periodontal. Por ello, es importante cuidar nuestra boca de manera diaria.
